Located in Wandsworth, South London, Emanuel School is situated on a 12 acre site, surrounded by landscape grounds. The main Victorian building houses a chapel, concert hall and drama studio. Robert Lombardelli Partnership, together with Horsley Huber Architects and the ongoing project team, have successfully completed a number of projects at the school, including the South Courtyard works, the ICT Suite refurbishment, the Theatre Extension and the Refectory Extension.
The latest project, the new Dacre Centre, involved the demolition of the existing standalone Dacre building and the construction of a new three storey classroom block, providing linked access to existing buildings at the school. The new Dacre Centre houses additional classrooms including music and art classrooms, and also incorporates an art exhibition space and film studio. The close proximity of the existing building and the neighbouring railway line, and the requirement to phase the works, made this a complex and challenging project.
The project achieved Practical Completion in September 2017 with project value of approximately £7 million.
