New Zero-Carbon House, Ashwell, Herts
This new bespoke residential house was built in the conservation area of Ashwell. With timber frame construction and open plan ground floor with gallery and feature staircase, it has 4 bedrooms, 2 on-suite bathrooms and a basement.
Our client wanted a zero-carbon house with a contemporary interior, with a number of energy saving services, which were incorporated in our design. These included: photo-voltaics, solar panels, underfloor heating and an air-source heat pumps. As a result, this new house achieved a zero carbon rating. The building works, including finishes, started in October 2009 and were completed in January 2011. The total cost of the project was approximately £400,000.
