The Howard Building, Downing College, Cambridge

Downing College, Cambridge

RLP provided Project Management and Quantity Surveying Services for the project, which consisted of the alterations and improvement of the main auditorium in the building.

The original stone building was constructed in the 1980’s in a classical style by Quinlan Terry Architects. The building required major upgrading from a services point of view, and this presented the opportunity to also upgrade the interiors by creating a new coffered ceiling in the main auditorium, incorporating new cornicing, new lighting, and ventilation outlets. Major additional ventilation plant was added to the building to provide air conditioning providing a stable internal environment throughout the year.

We worked closely with the original Architects to achieve the desired level of finish in this high quality building.
