Emanuel School

Robert Lombardelli Partnership revisited works at Emanuel School together with Horsley Huber Architects

Located in Wandsworth, Emanuel School is situated on a vast 12acre site. Surrounded by landscaped grounds, the main Victorian Building houses a chapel, a library, concert hall and drama studio whilst more recent buildings house further facilities.

This project consisted of the demolition of the external canopy and construction of a single storey extension adjacent to the existing refectory in order to provide additional dining space. The design by Horsley Huber Architects included full length bi-folding doors along the front elevation to allow the space to be used as an internal space during the colder months, with the doors fully opened up during the summer months. Due to the restricted timescales associated with the project, works were procured on a competitive Two stage traditional basis. The contract works of approximately £285,000 included a steel and timber structure with a copper roof and full height hardwood glazed bi-folding doors. The school took possession of the completed project in November 2013.
