This redevelopment for North Herts Homes is part of their programme to replace the old redundant council housing stock in conjunction with St Albans City Council. This development provides 18 one and two bedroom flats replacing the 22 elderly person’s bedsits on the site. The former facility, known as Victor Smith Court, is being replaced through another new build scheme locally. All the new flats are intended for the affordable housing rental market.
This 2 and 3 storey corner development is a modern, contemporary design, with brick and rendered facades under pitched roofs, incorporating a curved corner feature. There is on-site car parking to the rear, with front and rear communal landscaped gardens.
RLP provided Architectural Services, and were employed by NHH to secure a planning consent for the development. This process included a public consultation meeting with the local residents. To help promote the scheme successfully through the planning process, RLP provided images of the proposed scheme through a Revitt CAD model of the proposed development.
